There are times when Lenovo firmware updates are necessary to be installed to resolve issues and improve the performance of your laptop or desktop computer.  Based on the age of your machine you will have one of the two methods of updating the firmware on your Lenovo machine.  Important, before downloading and installing any updates, save all your work and have nothing open as your computer can restart abruptly with no warning.  Lenovo Commercial Vantage:  1. Click the "Start Menu" button on your taskbar. Start typing Lenovo Commercial Vantage. The search results will prepopulate with the application seen in the image below. Click on the application to open it.  2. The application will open. You will want to wait for the application to load. After the application has completed loading you will need to click on "Check for System Updates" for the application to look for updates.  3. After the application finds the updates to install make sure to check all the boxes right next to all the "Critical" and "Recommended" updates.  4. The application will download and install the updates.  5.
