Resolving Miscellaneous Issues With New Microsoft Teams
When troubleshooting issues or odd behaviors with the new version of Microsoft Teams it's possible to resolve many things by resetting the application and ensuring it's updated.
To perform a reset of MS Teams please do the following. Note...this will cause Teams to close briefly and will disconnect any active calls or meetings you may be in.
- Type settings in the Windows search box, and then select the Settings app from the results.
- Select Apps and then type Microsoft Teams in the search box underneath Apps & features.
- Locate the New Microsoft Teams app from the results, click on Microsoft Teams, and then select Advanced options.
- Scroll down and find the Reset section, select Reset.
- Teams should close and relaunch. If it does not open back up automatically you can find it and open it from your Start menu.
To ensure Teams is current:
- Find the three dots in the upper right part of Teams next to your profile icon. Click on it and choose Settings.
- Near the bottom left of Teams click on About Teams.
- The Version section will let you know if you have the most current version or not and give you the opportunity to update it if not.
- On a current device, it might look similar to this:
5. If it is not current you will be able to update from this same screen.
6. Additionally, if it is not current, you may also see an 'Update...' option in the upper right of the application to the left of your profile icon.
